Doug Crews
Before retiring in 2016 from the Missouri Press Association, Doug Crews served as MPA’s executive director for 25 years and prior to that as assistant director for 11 years. His first testimony as a witness during a Missouri legislative committee hearing was in 1982. He is recognized for his support of news organizations and his advocacy on behalf of journalists, open government, and the Missouri Sunshine Law. He has served in numerous leadership positions for professional organizations such as the Newspaper Association Managers, Inc. and the National Newspaper Association. He is a past president of the State Historical Society of Missouri (2007-2010) and the Mizzou Alumni Association (2004-2005). He received his Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia, in 1973.
